UNUSUAL COLOURED LAKES

Depending on the time of day and temperature it changes
colour from red to violet. This unusual colour is due to tiny algae that
produce carotene to protect the strong ultraviolet radiation.
KELIMUTU CRATER LAKES - FLORES ISLAND, INDONESIA.
This is where there are three different coloured crater lakes.
Tiwa AtaMbupu lake water usually has a blue tint, and
is the westernmost of the three lakes.
The other two lakes, Nuwa Muri Koo Fai Tiwu and
Tiwu Ata Polo are separate from the crater wall
and the water in them is usually red and green respectively.
In New Zealand has a light green colour.
This is due to the high content of sulphur and iron.
FIVE FLOWER LAKE
is located in the centre Jiuzhaigou, China. The lake colour
varies from yellow to dark green, but often, the water here is blue.
This place is shrouded in mystery, as many of the neighbouring
Lakes’ water level drops and they are dry,
this water level remains constant.
The lake does not freeze in winter, while all neighbouring
lakes are covered with ice. For this reason, the locals have
a fear of these places.
This lake is located on the island of Middle Island,
which is part of the Recherche Archipelago, which stretches
tens of kilometers along the south coast of Western Australia.
Hillier lake water is bright pink.
