RECORD BREAKING WELSH CAKE.
A whooping £50 worth of ingredients was donated
by the Co-op and mixed up in giant mixing bowls.
Once cooked the pan was carried weighed and cut with
pastry cutters to make ordinary sized welsh cakes for all to try.
When cooked it weighed a massive 26kgs.
A world record – was made by a group of volunteers and
then cut up and distributed in aid of Air Ambulance.
WORLD'S LARGEST BURGER.
Weighing in at 123 pounds, this giant burger features an
80-pound beef patty, a 30-pound bun, 12 tomatoes and
160 slices of cheese. Made at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub,
Pennsylvania restaurant, they also throw on a pound each of
lettuce, ketchup, mustard and mayo -- and up to five onions.
The menu price for the Beer Barrel Main Event Charity Burger
comes at $379.
WORLD'S LARGEST BIRTHDAY CAKE.
Made in 1962 for the Seattle World's Fair,
the world's largest birthday cake weighed 25,000 pounds
and stood 23 feet tall. The ingredients list included the 10,500
pounds of flour needed for the cake.
WORLD'S LARGEST CHEESE.
Dutch gourmet cheese maker Beemster made a
record-breaking cheese wheel. The giant cheese
measured 6ft wide and weighed 1,323 pounds.
WORLD'S LARGEST LAMINGTON.
The Lamington. A sponge cake (or, more traditionally, butter cake)
in the shape of a cube, coated in a layer of traditionally chocolate icing
then desiccated coconut. And where should the World's
Largest Lamington reside? Where else but where it originated, Queensland,
Australia! And while a Lamington is mostly cake, having it weigh in at
1,320kg is a mighty fine effort. It took ten bakery staff four days of
none stop work to create this giant cake!
WORLD'S LARGEST CRAB CAKE.
Talk about a jumbo crab cake -- Maryland's Handy International,
in Salisbury, broke the world record for baking the largest
crab cake over Labor Day weekend. The company
had to top the current record it set in 2011 at 253 pounds.
This time around, the crab cake chefs made a larger pan that
weighed as much as the ingredients themselves, The pan had a 3-foot
diameter, was 7.5- inches deep and 210 pounds.
The chefs whipped up the ingredients for the cake,
that took nine hours to cook, and debuted it at the Maryland State Fair.
It officially broke the world record, weighing in at 301.5 pounds.
LARGEST BAGEL.
Where else but New York would the largest bagel in the world
be made? Bruegger’s Bagels dropped the 868-pound bagel at the
state fair on Aug. 27, 2004.
LARGEST CHOCOLATE BAR.
Sure to satisfy any chocolate hankering, the largest
chocolate bar ever was made by Thorntons PLC on Oct. 7, 2011.
It weighed in at more than 12,770 pounds and measured more than
13-by-13-by-1-ft.
LONGEST SAUSAGE.
The world’s longest sausage measured more than 36 miles long,
farther than many people drive to work. It was made by
J.J. Tranfield in South Yorkshire, U.K., over two days in October 2000.
