MORE WINTER SCENES

Added on: 4th Jan 2015

Some people can obviously enjoy more than just the

visual delight that winter countryside offers. In

Kangasala, western Finland, there is a tradition of

polar bear swimming.

In New Zealand, winter is in power during the time we have

summer in the northern hemisphere but the breath taking

outcomes of its freezing grip look the same.

Rather extreme example of what winter can also create,

these are the consequences of an enormous ice storm

that hit Switzerland in February, 2012.

The ice storm was formed by strong, gusting winds and

long-term freezing temperatures. Spray from the

Lake Geneva stuck to anything it could find, creating

these spectacular things.

Neuschwanstein castle, a 19th century Romanesque Revival

palace in southwest Bavaria, Germany, looks astonishing all

year round but in winter, its fairy-tale like look is even

more intense.

Minneapolis, Minnesota is one of the coldest American

cities which may discourage some people from visiting the

city but there are very few places that would offer you such views.

Greenland can be considered a real winter wonderland.

In areas where the ice and snow are permanent all year round,

a dog sled is often the only way of traveling.

A 150 feet (46 meters) deep Birthday Canyon carved by

melt-water is one of Greenland´s most popular landmarks

attracting photographers from all over the world.
