GERMANY
Despite many people automatically thinking of WWII and Hitler
when they hear “Germany,” the country currently is one of the
most peaceful in Europe and worldwide and is considered one of
the most welcoming to tourists and visitors.
SLOVENIA
This beautiful Mediterranean country is rightfully considered one
of the most peaceful as well due to its contributions to UN
peacekeeping missions, a low level of perceived criminality in
society, and an even lower number of organized internal
conflicts and violent protests.
BELGIUM
According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium is one of the safest
and most peaceful places to live. Situated in the heart of Europe,
this small country holds a special place since its capital, Brussels,
is home to the European Union and NATO.
SWEDEN
One of the most beautiful Scandinavian countries, Sweden is located
in the far north of Europe. The country has very low crime rates and
according to the Global Peace Index, it is one of the most peaceful
countries in the world, despite being among the world’s
top arms exporters.
IRELAND
With its rich historical sites, amazing green pastures, and friendly
people, it’s not surprising that Ireland is one of the most peaceful
countries on Earth. Ireland is a beautiful country with a plethora
of reasons to visit or even move there.
PORTUGAL
Despite the recent financial crisis and social unrest Portugal is
still one of the most safe and peaceful places in the world to live.
Portugal is also known for having fully decriminalized the use of
all drugs in 2001, the first country in the world to do so.
CZECH REPUBLIC
The Czech Republic, according to the Global Peace Index, is the
tenth most peaceful country with a continually growing economy
and a democratic government that makes sure it maintains
stability and safety for its citizens.
AUSTRALIA
Despite the country’s violent past (especially during British colonization)
Australia is currently one of the wealthiest and most peaceful in the
world. Australia ranks high in many international comparisons of
national performance, such as quality of life, health, education,
economic freedom, and the protection of civil liberties and political rights.
