THE TEN WORST MOVIE MOTHERS
Added on: 21st Mar 2016
KATE MCCALLISTER - HOME ALONE
Leaving your youngest child at home over Christmas once
is bad enough, doing it two years in a row is pure evil.
NORMA BATES – PSYCHO
Norman’s controlling mother taught her young son that
all women are whores and that sex is evil, and forbade a life
away from her. He eventually poisoned her, mummified her
remains, and murdered any woman he became attracted to,
while dressed up as “mother”.
JOAN CRAWFORD - MOMMIE DEAREST
This sad tell-all true story, written by Joan Crawford’s
adopted daughter Christine Crawford, claimed she suffered
years of abuse at the hands of her Oscar-winning parent.
MARGARET WHITE – CARRIE
Carrie’s religious zealot of a mother has a lot to answer for.
She throws scalding hot tea in her daughter’s face after
her first date, beats her having her first period, and
eventually stabs her with a knife while saying the
Lord’s Prayer together.
MAMA FRATELLI – THE GOONIES
This nurturing soul decided the best thing to do with her
disabled, deformed son was to chain him up in her
basement and deprive him of human contact.
MARY LEE JOHNSTON – PRECIOUS
Mo’Nique won an Oscar for playing Precious’ hideously
abusive mother in Lee Daniels’ gruelling drama.
She allows her husband to continuously rape her illiterate
daughter, resulting in two inbred children.
OTHER MOTHER – CORALINE
The evil of double of Coraline’s real mother wants to tempt
the young girl into the “Other World” to steal her eyes,
replace them with buttons, and trap her soul in the
nether realm forever. Later, she transforms onto a
hideous spider witch. Just keep reminding yourself:
It’s just a kids film.
ERICA SAYERS - BLACK SWAN
Barbara Hershey’s pushy stage mother virtually
drives her ballet dancer daughter to the brink of madness.
She live vicariously through her child while dominating
her life, helping her undress, watching her bath, and
clipping her nails.
MRS. VORHEES - FRIDAY THE 13TH
Everyone knows Jason Vorhees isn’t the real monster
of the first ‘Friday the 13th’ film; it’s actually his mother.
The poor woman is obviously grieving because the
counsellors at Camp Crystal Lake let her son drown, but
there’s probably better ways to deal with parental grief
then brutally murdering countless young soles in revenge.
GRACE STEWART - THE OTHERS
If you haven’t seen Alejandro Amenábar’s stunning
haunted house film, look away now. The twist is that the
whole family are ghosts after Nicole Kidman’s Grace,
distraught with grief over her missing husband,
smothered her two children before killing herself.
Even in death she terrorizes her children, keeping
them locked up, away from natural light.
