AKHZIVLAND

Israeli citizen Eli Avivi founded this micro nation in response to the

government trying to bulldoze his house. The lawsuit brought

against him by the government of Israel was thrown out by the

judge and today the territory is actually promoted by the

Israeli Ministry of Tourism.

PRINCIPALITY OF MARLBOROUGH

A short-lived micro nation in Australia, its creator decided to secede

in order to avoid eviction from his farm following bankruptcy.

It didn’t take long, however, for the police to show up and

remove him from the property.

L'ANSE-SAINT-JEAN

On January 21 1997, residents of the village of L’Anse-Saint-Jean

held a referendum to become an independent kingdom.

Canada has not recognized their independence but they

have managed to boost local tourism.

AERICAN EMPIRE

Started by Canadian Eric Lis, the name of the country is meant to

be a play on words (American Empire/Erican Empire). It claims

territory in Montreal, Australia, and Pluto.

FREE REPUBLIC OF WENDLAND

In 1980 German anti-nuclear protestors founded this micro nation.

It was stormed by police shortly thereafter.

MOLLOSIA

Founded by Kevin Baugh in 1977, you’ll need your passport to

enter this small micro nation found in the middle of Nevada.

FILETTINO

Rather than succumb to a forced merger with another nearby

Italian village, Filettino decided on independence.

They even started printing their own currency.

DOMINION OF MELCHIZEDEK

This infamous micro nation is known for its involvement in financial

crimes. As far as land is concerned, it claims several small

Pacific islands.
