MOUNT VESUVIUS (ITALY)
Famous for its eruption in AD 79 that led to destruction of Pompeii,
to this day it is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes
on Earth due to the fact that 3 million people live around its base.
MAUNA LOA (USA)
Although Ojos de Salada is the highest volcano on Earth in
terms of height above sea level, this Hawaiian volcano has
often been considered the largest volcano in terms of
mass and volume.
OSORNO VOLCANO (CHILE)
Known for its similar appearance to Mount Fuji, this volcano is one
of the most active in the Chilean Andes.
MOUNT ETNA (ITALY)
The second largest active volcano in Europe, its fertile soil provides
plenty of opportunities for agriculture and farming.
OJOS DEL SALADA (ARGENTINA/CHILE)
The world’s highest volcano can be found in the Andes sitting
right on the border of Chile and Argentina.
STROMBOLI VOLCANO (ITALY)
Sometimes called the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean this
volcano has been erupting pretty much non-stop for the
past 2,000 years.
ARENAL VOLCANO (COSTA RICA)
The country’s most active volcano overlooks a lake and can
appear quite serene at first glance. Do not be fooled.
MOUNT YASUR (VANUATU)
One of the most easily accessible live volcanoes in the world, it
is said that the glow from this volcano attracted the early
European explorers to the island.
