THERESE ISLAND, SEYCHELLES
Therese Island is a small 180 acre islet off the western coast
of Mahe in the Seychelles. Known for its white sandy beaches,
the island is uninhabited but it is frequently visited by tourists
who come there to scuba dive, snorkel, water ski etc.
ELLIDAEY, ICELAND
Recognizable by its distinctive rocky cliffs and green
plateaus, Ellidaey is one of the Westman Islands, an
archipelago consisting of 18 islands located south of Iceland.
The island is home to numerous bird species including
the puffin, the most iconic bird of Iceland.
DUIKER ISLAND, SOUTH AFRICA
Also known as Seal Island, Duiker Island is a tiny islet off
Hout Bay near Cape Town, South Africa. Uninhabited but
regularly visited by tourists and photographers, the island is
renowned for its wildlife such as seals and sea birds.
MONU ISLAND, FIJI
Monu Island is an uninhabited Fijian island of the Mamanuca
Islands, a volcanic archipelago famous for palm fringed sandy
beaches and live coral reefs. The island is just 1,370m
(4,500ft) long from north to south and up to 1,070m
(3,500ft) wide.
DRAGONERA, SPAIN
Located just off the west coast of Majorca, Dragonera is a little
uninhabited islet in the Balearic Islands, Spain. Named
after local endemic lizards that resemble dragons,
the island currently serves as a natural park.
COMINOTTO, MALTA
Measuring only 0.25 sq. km (0.1 sq. mi) in area, Cominotto
is a tiny island in the Maltese archipelago. It lies just 100m
(330ft) north west of Comino, the third largest Maltese island.
Between Cominotto and Comino, there is the famous
Blue Lagoon, a popular tourist spot.
NUULOPA, SAMOA
Found in the Apolima Strait in Samoa, Nuulopa is a small
forested island. Uninhabited but occasionally visited by
tourists, this picturesque island serves as a conservation
area for flying foxes and the surrounding sea is a
conservation area designated for turtles.
GOTSKA SANDON, SWEDEN
One of the largest islands on the list, Gotska Sandon is an
uninhabited Swedish island in the Baltic Sea. Featuring
beautiful beaches, sand dunes and deep pine forests, the
island is also a national park. It is home to numerous
rare insect and plant species including orchids.
