UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 7,062,000
This park opened in 1990 and its main theme is the entertainment
industry, in particular movies and television. Universal Studios
Florida encourages its guests to “ride the movies,” and it features
numerous attractions and live shows. It’s the eighth most-visited
park in the United States and one of the top twenty worldwide.
EVERLAND
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 7,303,000
Everland is operated by Samsung Everland, which is a subsidiary
of the Samsung Group, and is South Korea’s largest theme park.
With an annual attendance of 7,303,000, Everland ranks as one of
the top twenty amusement parks in the world.
LOTTE WORLD
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 7,400,000
Lotte World is a major recreation complex in Seoul, South Korea,
that consists of the world’s largest indoor theme park, an outdoor
amusement park called Magic Island, an artificial island in a lake
linked by monorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum,
sports facilities, and movie theatres. It opened back in 1989, and since then
has attracted people from all over the globe with an estimated
7.4 million visitors each year.
HONG KONG DISNEYLAND
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 7,400,000
This park might have a daily capacity of only 34,000 people, which is
the fewest of all Disneyland parks around the world, but in 2013 it
managed to attract nearly 7.5 million visitors, which made it the
thirteenth most-visited theme park that year.
Not too bad considering its size.
OCEAN PARK HONG KONG
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 7,475,000
Ocean Park Hong Kong, better known as Ocean Park, is a marine
mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park, and amusement park
situated in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan, in the Southern
District of Hong Kong. It is, along with Hong Kong Disneyland, one of the
two largest theme parks in Hong Kong. It opened in 1977 and has been a
main attraction for children and adults alike ever since. In 2013 alone
it hosted more than 7.4 million visitors.
ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 8,141,000
Islands of Adventure is a theme park in Orlando, Florida, that opened
on May 28, 1999, along with CityWalk, as part of an expansion that
converted Universal Studios Florida into the Universal Orlando Resort.
The slogan for the park is “Live the Adventure,” and judging from the
8 million visitors annually, there are many people who
want to do just that.
DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 8,514,000
Disney California Adventure is a theme park located in Anaheim,
California, that opened in 2001 and is owned and operated by
The Walt Disney Company. Since its opening year it has frequently been
one of the most visited theme parks in the world with an average
8.5 million visitors per year.
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN
ANNUAL ATTENDANCE: 10,100,000
Universal Studios Japan is located in Osaka and opened in 2001.
On its first year of operation, it attracted 11 million guests, making it
the first amusement park (at the time) to achieve the 10-million
milestone in record time. Since then, Universal Studios Japan has
averaged about 8 million visitors per year. In 2013 however, its
attendance sky rocketed to 10,100,000 and is currently the
ninth most-visited theme park in the world.
